N.C. State Football Recruiting: Wisconsin offers Jaryd Jones-Smith

2013 three-star offensive tackle recruit Jaryd Jones-Smith is a top target for the North Carolina State Wolfpack in the class, and he has received another high profile offer to add to his resume. This one from the Wisconsin Badgers will make the challenge of pulling Jones-Smith to Raleigh more difficult for N.C. State.

The Philadelphia-area recruit has two heavily weighed-in in-state offers from the Pittsburgh Panthers and Temple Owls, and the Virginia Cavaliers are also heavily in the mix with an offer. At this point in time, my prediction for Jaryd Jones-Smith is a commitment to Pitt, because he took an official visit there last week and it’s a big in-state program.

Paul Chryst obviously has connections to Wisconsin, and the Badgers now have a link with Jones-Smith’s recruitment. The top 30 Pennsylvania recruit isn’t an overly talented tackle by any means, but he would be a solid addition to one of the programs that has offered him. The Wolfpack would love to get a commitment from him, especially since they only have one commitment at the tackle position in the 2013 class.

The offer from Wisconsin comes about ten days after a visit from Badgers coach Thomas Hammock, who is the lead recruiter for Jones-Smith. He is an intelligent player, and the recruiting battle for him is beginning to heat up with this big offer from Wisconsin.

We’ll see how much pull N.C. State can have with the three-star tackle under a new head coach and with some top-notch facilities on their side.
