After Tennessee hired Butch Jones from Cincinnati, Tommy Tuberville was hired Cincinnati replace Jones. That then left a whole for Texas Tech to fill.

One of the hot names mentioned in the North Carolina State University search was Chad Morris’, yet the Wolfpack pulled a trick that no one saw coming in hiring Dave Doeren.

Now he is yet again another highly mentioned name and this he is on Texas Tech’s list.

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt confirmed the reports made by local news papers that he flew himself to South Carolina to interview Morris for the vacancy. Hocutt also said that he has every intention to have Tuberville’s replacement announced by the end of the week so work on the 2013 season and recruiting can get under way.

Morris has spent the past two seasons at Clemson and led an offense that gained 518.3 yards per game this season. That is is the best in the Atlantic Coast Conference and ninth best in the FBS overall. If Morris leaves Dabo Swinney and Clemson, this will hurt the ACC in losing one of the best coordinators in the conference.
